Stainless Steel Terminology

Gauge -  Manufacturers standard numbering systems indicating decimal thickness or diameters.

Mill finish- A surface finish produced on sheet and plate. This finish generally varies from a structural finish with surface imperfections to an architectural finish with uniformly good appearance.

Type 304 Stainless Steel - Most versatile and the most widely used of all stainless steels.304 is used in all industrial, commercial and domestic fields because of its good corrosion and heat resisting properties. Typical applications include Kitchen benches, sinks, troughs, equipment and appliances

Type 430 Stainless Steel - Low-carbon plain chromium ferritic stainless steel. The steel has good corrosion resistance in mildly corrosive environments and good resistance to oxidation at elevated temperatures. 430 is a simple corrosion and heat-resisting grade and finds application in areas where mildly corrosive conditions occur or where scaling resistance at moderate temperatures is required.

O.D. - Overall Dimension.

Gusset - Is the sleeve that holds the leg in place.

Marine Edge - Is a dripless edge around a table. No water can run off the table.
