The Gathering Block by John Boos is perfectly named as the kitchen is the heart of the home where we most commonly gather. This small kitchen island is designed to serve as a centrally located food prep station, providing quick and easy access to and from counters, sinks, refrigerator and range areas. The beautiful country style base has 4 exquisitely carved pedestal legs and is available in a variety of finishes including natural maple, cherry and gray stains, and a selection of paint colors with a rustic distressed finish. The bottom slatted shelf is great for keeping kitchen tools and necessities conveniently close by while the sliding wicker basket is spacious and adds an unassuming design element to this rustic kitchen island. But the star of this small kitchen island is the impressive 4" thick butcher block top. This Boos Block is crafted from Hard Rock Maple in the sought after End-Grain construction. The end-grain construction not only offers durability and longevity, it boasts a beautiful checkerboard design. The butcher block is finished with Boos Block Board Cream to protect the wood. Grab an extra tube of Boos Block Board cream to add to your kitchen island as needed.

| Just received our table and we are really pleased. The table is extremely well made and will no doubt be durable. If I have any criticisms it is in the wood selection for the butchers block. I know they say wood patterns are random and that is what give it character, but I disagree. With care and proper wood selection, I have see butcher blocks look like works of art. For what this table costs, I believe more care in laying out the top would go a long way in improving the appearance. I was also a little disappointed that the basket drawers are not packaged better for shipment. We received one basket damaged and are waiting for a replacement. Overall this is a very good table - with a little more effort it could be great |

| I was a little disappointed in the color of the stain when we first took it put of the box but once we got the top on it, it looked much better. I thought it would be darker...however it does say directly on website that color may vary.
Overall I love the piece.. Great for a small work area in your kitchen. It was heavy so make sure you have extra help in the assembly process. I did notice some rough area on the legs where it was finished and thought it shouldn't have that for the price tag! |
