Edge grain provides the hardest side of the wood for cutting on and is easy on your knives. 	I've been looking for a good and sturdy block with feet for quite some time. My mom had one like this when I was growing up and I always remember it being solid and so convenient to chop since it was a little higher than most cutting boards.
